Aphrodite: A Multifunctional Necklace by Frida Hulten

Frida Hulten's Aphrodite is a multifunctional necklace that can be worn in three distinct ways, offering a variety of looks. The design was inspired by the desire to create a piece that could cover the entire upper torso in a comfortable, interesting, and attractive manner. The necklace stretches out over the shoulders, creating a unique silhouette that is both wearable and intriguing.

The necklace is handcrafted using a variety of materials, including turquoise faceted resin beads made from recycled plastic, faceted gold colored pyrite, brown glass pipe beads, a plastic horn pendant, oxidised copper chain, gold plated chain, thin brass chain, thick brass chain, decorative mesh chain, a chunky antique brass chain from a lamp, and leather. The use of a vintage belt buckle adds a touch of nostalgia to the design.

One of the unique features of the Aphrodite necklace is its ability to be worn in three different ways. The first option has the lock on the left side of the neck, with a chunky chain hanging from the middle of the front to the back of the necklace. The second option positions the lock at the front, with wings and mesh chain on the front and rings and chain on the back. The third option places the lock at the back, with wings and mesh chain on the back, rings and chain on the front.

The Aphrodite necklace was created in Milan, Italy, in February 2022. The design process was a testament to Hulten's commitment to challenging herself creatively and technically. The necklace combines different looks, from a Victorian feel to a Native American inspiration, and a modern, slightly fetish look. The challenge was to make the necklace look good and sit well in all three ways it can be worn.
